Get Your Skin Looking "Visibly Clear"

Wednesday 27 April 2016

Skin care has never been something that I've invested in, it all seemed a little complicated and unnecessary for me back in the day. I was quite happy with a face cloth and a good old bar of dove soap. From a young age I was never prone to any dry skin, spots or blemishes of any kind, it had been looked after and was glowing. But then things changed (as they do when you turn 13) and my skin started to become unbalanced. I started finding my skin oily in certain areas and dry in others to the point when I ended up with really painful and severe acne mainly around my forehead (thank god for huge fringes). I don't think it was something that a lot of people noticed, but it certainly made me a lot more self-conscious of what was going on under that mad combover of mine.

So as parents do, mine tried to help me and invested a lot of time and money into helping me get rid of the mass lumps on my face. Certain things made it worse, others cleared it up amazingly. But it was a constant battle of trying to find the right balance and being able to rely on it. So after nothing really worked I consulted a doctor who has given me a drying lotion for the spots and tablets to clear up the bacteria causing the breakouts. Like it was meant to it got rid of the spots and gave me a much clearer complexion, that I even patched the fringe.

But now at 19 years old where I do wear makeup most days, I'm finding myself tackling some more frequent breakouts. Nothing major enough to make me want to go to a doctor but enough for me to want to try and invest in skin care. I don't quite as much have a routine as yet but I have been trying out some products and this Nuetrogena Visibly Clear range has been working wonders;

Using the gentle scrub exfoliator every other day and the facial wash daily has managed to get rid of any blackheads, whiteheads or spots on my face. Not only is it gentle to my sensitive skin, but it smells like heaven. Both the scrub and wash make your face feel cool and refreshed, helping me wake up every morning as well (which I definitely need). Once I use these products I'll then follow on with the  oil-free moisturiser, mainly around my nose so I get rid of any dry/flaky skin. Using these before bed and pre-makeup'd everyday has made my skin feel significantly softer, look brighter and has reduced blemishes in just 1 week. Maybe I'm just new to this whole skin care thing, but Neutrogena are definitely doing something right.

You can pick these products up in most shops, online retailers and drugstores, as the brand are well known and established in the UK/US. As well as this range of "Visibly Clear" products there are other lines which may suit your problem areas and skin type better. I picked these up while shopping in my local ASDA for £3 each, but you should be able to get them online as well. As usual all items and topics in todays blog will be linked below- let me know your skin care secrets and if you've tried these products out before. I hope you guys have a fab day, I'll see ya soon.

A Hug in A Box - Pink Parcel

Tuesday 19 April 2016

We all know that when your T.O.M (time of month) comes you can be all types of angry, sad and in general just in need of a little pick me up. So what if instead of waiting on the Chinese, your boyfriend or anything else remembering to make you smile - you had a box of beauty surprises and food making its way to you on schedule every month. Well that where this little box of heaven ticks that box for only £9.95 (for the first box) followed by a monthly payment of £12.99 there after. So I bet your thinking "is it worth the money?" , "will it really make a difference?" well let me answer that for you with a big fat YES!!

The box has been designed to help you have everything you need right there to help you get through your cycle. Each box contains all the hygiene products (of your preference) as well as some exclusive beauty bits & munchies. You'll be provided with 24 hygiene products of your choice, a little dust bag to keep it discreet in your bag along with the 5 night time products to suit while you sleep.

The April box came through my door filled with well worth it goodies, which definitely put a smile on my face;

So first off lets just talk about how amazing, well organised and pretty this box is on first impression alone. But going in further you can see the products received are of super high quality and the brands are well known (New CID are my fave). The SAAS intimate wipes and Fab little tampon bag are honestly ideal for handbag purposes while keeping you happy and feeling fresh. The brands can all be bought separate and in some cases they cost more than the box alone. Some of the brands include;

NPW Pomegranate & Paw Paw Face Mask
New CID Cosmetics
Boozi Bodycare Hand Cream
True Brit London
Mallow & Marsh Bar
Nairn's Rough Oatcakes
Teapigs Chamomile Flowers Tea

Overall I am absolutely in love with the product and its entire purpose, it cheers you up and exposes you to new brands that you might have not even tried before and for me thats a big win. If you're like me and loving this you can subscribe to pink parcel here and all of the products will (as always) be linked below for you to find. I hope you're having an awesome day, ill see you later on this week.

March Favourites

Tuesday 5 April 2016

So during the month of March I've found myself buying some new things, picking up some old ones and trying out new tricks. Every month is a new phase, so I figured I'd be best off showing you in a post, just a couple of this months things that where just always in my hand.  So naturally I always have a lot of favourites but here today I'm just posting a few of the smaller things which where always on my person/face. Its not too extensive but its a little taster before the video is up tomorrow, theres a little collection of photos and a few thoughts on each item.

Ive been finding myself looking for a fuller coverage this month & I've been tanning more than usual - probably because of Easter etc. But yeah basically this month I felt like making an effort with my face. I needed something that would be a picture perfect coverage, stay in place and not look too cakey. Ive never been one to try out cinematic foundations or gel/cream foundations but this month I've been loooooovinnnggggg the Mehron Celbrè HD Pro foundation which I bought in the shade Eurasia Japanais (which matches my MAC Shade of NC35) making it the ideal shade for me with my tan on. Its thick, creamy, full coverage and when you put it on your face it blends like a dream and just looks like a second skin- while obviously covering up spots and blemishes. So I would totally recommend this to everyone and I bagged mines for like £11.

For underneath and over my foundation/full face I had heard that MAC Fix+ was amazing and had always wanted to try it. It had been out of stock every time I popped into the MAC store in Glasgow and then finally managed to get my hands on it. At first I just popped it over my face for a dewy look and then tried it out as a primer and it works just as well. So yeah those are my two fave face products this month for that long lasting full coverage look

While I was in MAC I was looking for a dark brown lip colour and they didn't have what I wanted so I popped into Superdrug and picked up this Loreal Paris lipstick in 703. To be fair firstly it was the packaging that caught my eye but this is more of a satin finish lipstick, its a perfect colour and I just love it. I know I've mentioned these lashes before but they are honestly so amazing that I had to pop them into my March favourites. So last but not least I've been working with a manufacturer who has made me a phone case here or there & came up with this faux fur beauty. Its honestly so perfect, the pom pom is also detachable. Im thinking about seeing about getting more and popping some on my Depop if you guys would be interested let me know.

So theres a few of my March favourites, I've just finished recording the YouTube video which had more products, books & shows that I've been loving. So that will be up in the next day or so. But in the mean time I'll link everything bellow & if you have any questions or suggestions feel free to comment or contact me. Have a fab day, see you soon

Must Have or Must Hate - Beauty Bargins #2

Thursday 17 March 2016

Okay so lets just call this Volume 2. of the Aliexpress diary shall we? I told you I'd be back with an update of the items I've bought recently from the "still new to me" Chinese wholesale website. So I figured since talking about them in the previous blog post I should probably show you these matte liquid lipsticks that had drawn me into the website in the first place. Again there where lots of sellers on the website offering the products for varied cheap prices, but after doing my research I settled on one retailer and I was good to go.

I was always fairly interested in these matte lipsticks perhaps as a trial before I invested in the likes of Lime Crime or ABH Cosmetics. I was unsure of a few things like how I would feel about the texture or really just having dry lips (I know I'm a weird person, you don't have to tell me) I understand there will clearly be a difference in quality between the well known brand and some lipstick mass produced in China, then again you never know.

I ordered 5 from this seller at 54 pence a pop, but they did have a discount applied so the one I bought them from might not longer be the cheapest. But yeah, these 5 here are just shades that I would've seen myself buying from the bigger named brands anyway so I could build a decent enough judgement on them. So here is the packaging as well as some colour swatches;

So if I had to pick one out of all five shades that stood out for me it would definitely be 30, I seen this shade as a dry matte substitute for Velvet Teddy. I rarely had to reapply at all when wearing this shade, mainly after eating and even then it wasn't hugely noticeable. The next shade which I tried out was number 33 matched with the wine liner from Primark. I wore this shade on a night out in town, basically to put it to the ultimate test of durability. Considering I was downing venoms and drinking quite a bit. After about 3 drinks I did have to reapply, but there was plenty in the package to do so and at 54p I was cool with it.

Since trying out all the other shades I've probably been converted to matte liquid lipsticks, maybe not for a night out as much (unless Im using a straw) but probably for everyday wear to work, shopping or college. I just used a lip scrub from lush and a lip balm before applying the lipstick, this seemed to help prevent any overly dry, cracking feeling? plus lines where reduced by doing this as well.

I would definitely recommend these products if you haven't tried out any matte lipstick yet, maybe as a judgement before you invest hugely. I ordered these on the 20th Feb and they came within 14 days (inc weekends), which I thinks pretty fast from China. As usual all the links will be below for anything mentioned in the post. If you have an questions, suggestions or if you've ever tried these products out - let me know in the comment section. Oh and if you didn't know I've actually started Youtubing these days so I would love if you could click on the link above ^^, watch and subscribe (if you can) & also if you could give my bloglovin' a follow in the link below. I hope you've enjoyed the post, and ill speak to you soon.

Primark Beauty Haul - First Ever YouTube Video

Friday 26 February 2016

After what seems like forever, it looks like I've finally plucked up the courage to go ahead and film my first ever YouTube video. I've always been comfortable blogging because the spotlight has never really been on me, my face or my goofy actions, youtube just always seemed like something that would only ever be an idea. But a couple of days ago I figured 'why after like 6 years have I not done this yet?', it was really only me and my daft thoughts that stopped me. I figured if I'm going to enjoy it and have a hobby from it, then its totally worth the time and any criticism.

I obviously understand it won't be everyones cup of tea or my accent may make your ears bleed, but I guess its like marmite- love it or hate it. I know this post already seems cheesy enough compared to my usual post (so I do apologise for those of you cringing), but doing this actually does mean a lot to me. So I would totally 100% be so grateful if you could give the video a watch, like, comment or subscribe- just even let me know what you think.

The video itself is just a little introduction and then followed by a Primark Beauty Haul, featuring some of the new PS Love collection thanks been launched in the last few weeks. Some of the items are actually amazing and super cheap, my two faves are £1 each. So I'll tag the video below so you guys can see it, either as a link or the video itself. If you have any questions just reach me in the usual ways, Ill speak to you soon.

Must Haves or Must Hate - Beauty Bargins

Wednesday 24 February 2016

Recently I've found myself drawn to a website based in mainland China. Now we've all most likely heard of online Chinese wholesalers and their reputation for being a little sketchy and unreliable. But I came across this website on the hunt for some cheap matte lipsticks which I wanted to buy and review. Its name is Aliexpress and to be honest when I found it I put little faith, trust or pixie dust in the hopes that my stuff would actually arrive; be the right item, colour or even be here at all. But when prices are as low as 10 PENCE its human nature to be at least a little intrigued. So I ordered those matte lipsticks like I said I would (I'll get another post on that shortly) but found myself wandering around not only their beauty products, but their tech & womenswear as well.

So I've decided to do a series of posts and reviews about the items which I'll film later in a collective haul (Still waiting on one last thing). So take this as you will, maybe as a "how to shop carefully online" or "how to get high quality products for pennies". The views are all my own and if I love it or hate it- you will most definitely be able to tell.
Okay so here comes the good, bad and the ugly. The first few things that came through the door were 3 collections of eyelashes. I was never one for wearing fake lashes because my own naturally are long enough, though recently i have found myself adoring the finish they give to a plain eye look. First up we have the two 5 pack eyelashes (the ones on the blue holder) and honestly I've ran out of one pack already, these are now my holy grail and if you've seen me wearing these lashes in the last 3 weeks - its been these bad boys. They cost me (at the time) 56 pence, LIKE SERIOUSLY!! Thats roughly 10 pence each.

Now the next ones are a little bit more daring, I do warn the plain Janes or the faint hearted. These lashes I seen on some photographic feedback and they looked liked that Kylie Jenner lash; yeno, the long & uber curly insta-famous look? I put them on and by dear god were these huge (bearing in mind I'm not into that look) I put one on momentarily and i felt the right hand side of my face just fail completely. I don't know how Kylie does it but damn they where heavy, it honestly felt like I had backcombed my eyelashes. So yeah these are going back in the drawer for a costume party or something where I'll have the guts to wear them. But to be fair the quality is amazing and again at the price of 69 pence- I can't really moan. If this is the look you're into then I would definitely try them out- In fact pop me and email, text or DM and I can post you them out.

Thee shopping experience wasn't all that bad to be honest, they came in only 12 days (I ordered on the 20/1 and they came 2/2) and I'll list the exact sellers below. My only advice would be to research what you're buying, compare it to other wholesalers on the site and make sure theres at least 1 piece of photographic feedback. These lashes didn't come with glue but I picked some up from ASDA which is basically facial superglue for around £2. So let me know what you think in the comments below, if you've ever bought anything or if you would like advice. As normal all relative links will be put below and maybe a few more examples of the same (or similar items) that you can compare. These are my views and experience only, but due to the wholesalers and the type of website yours way vary. But so far following these steps has proved to work in my favour. I hope this has helped and I'll speak to you all very soon.

All about that KIKO

Thursday 18 February 2016

KIKO is probably that make up brand that has similar pricing to the likes of Rimmel, Maybeline etc. but I've always found it to have higher quality. Since starting back college I've tried to start saving for summer & paying off my car so I can minimise my outgoings in the long run obviously (because right now everthings going to bills and savings). So I set myself a challenge for the next few months by trying to find high quality make up at lower prices.

I went to the Glasgow fort to get my brows did, and on the way noticed that KIKO had a huge sale so it would've been unlike me if I never popped in for a look. After just having ran out of one of my foundations and I seen this as an experiment to try out some new ones. Kiko had lots on the sale some with 50% off so I got colour matched grabbed some and got on with it.

Now recently all I've done is buy lip products soo it was kinda obvious I'd pick up one, or three. Since I use baby wipes all the time I've been meaning to invest in a good cleanser so I picked up some bits from that. So after that quick 15 minutes in the shop I came out with a bag packed with stuff and heres what I got;

So where should I start first... Well maybe about how bloody cheap everything was. Ill get started with the cleansing products; The Kiko 'Purifying Pads' I picked up for only £3.95 reduced from £9-£10 (sorry I can't remember exactly) & the 'Cleansing Foam' which again was £3.95 in the sale. Both items look like they are store only content, because I've struggled to find more of the purifying pads online. Ive pretty much ran out of both these items already, but I've found my skin to be a lot more clearer and softer when using these over the last few weeks.

Moving on I then picked up some foundations a liquid, cream & a powder. The first one I got matched was the Unlimited foundation (basically because it had the same consistency as MAC Studio Sculpt) which was the only product not in the sale at £14.90, but now is available for as little as £7.40 depending on the skin tone - Mines is in Neutral 40. Moving on I picked up the BB Glow Compact in the shade 06, which is the cream foundation which I just wear everyday or as a top up to the Unlimited foundation if I need super high coverage. Im picked this up for about £4.90 reduced from £12 or so.  Finally for my face I picked up the standard Compact Powder in Shade 105 for only £4.90 from £9.90. Thats like a full face of make up for as little as £18 pounds.

Finally my lipstick habit got fed when I picked up 3 super pigmented and fab colours. Firstly I got two from the Luminous Chrome Collection in shades 703 (Metallic finish) & 500 (Creamy finish) both for £2 each. The next one I picked up purely because the packaging was unreal for the price tag of £3.70, the Intensely Lavish lipstick in the shade 05.

Unfortunately some of the products I purchased in store are not seeming to be available online,  if you have a KIKO Milano near you then I would highly recommend going into the the store rather than searching online. But as usual I'll have everything linked below (that I can) hopefully to help you find the products or a store near you. I hope this was helpful and gave you an insight into Kiko Cosmetics. Have a great day guys, i'll speak to you soon.

Cheapest, Bestest Lipliners Ever

Friday 22 January 2016

So if you know me you'll know I'm a sucker for a good lipliner/lipstick combo, the pouts everything. Ive noticed recently that when I buy my fave MAC Spice liner, it'll make one outing with me and then the next morning its no where to be found. Basically throwing away £14 at a time- which isn't sound with me really. In the search for a new replacement I found myself drifting toward my usual Barry M liner to substitute, bought that and thought I was good to go. As most of you know from twitter Ive been decorating like mad recently, to get ready for my youtube channel.

When it comes to home decor, nick nacks and candles the first place ill drift over to is Primark. Obviously I bagged a candle here and there, maybe a room spray or a pillow (ill get to that in another post). The mother was taking her time (as usual) and I seen a few posts about the PS Love range that Primark has and took the opportunity to go check it out. Soooo me being the impulsive buyer/hoarder I picked up every colour available in the Argyle Street shop in these cool lipliner and lip crayons. At a pound or two each it wasn't going to hurt the pocket.  So here they are guys.
So this is where I rave about how amazing they are... but honestly I now have 5 of the shade 'Brown'. So lets give you a run down of the colours I picked up and reviewed. Starting with the Velvet Matte Lipstick Crayons (left to right) I have Natural, Nude & Wine. Trust me the Nude crayon substitutes on college days for my MAC love 'Velvet Teddy'. Now onto the liners (again left to right) we have, Brown, Natural, Nude, Pink, Wine & Red. These liners are absolutely, positively the best things I've ever bought from Primark and at £1 I would buy every shade at least 4 times. I mix them with my MAC shades, drugstore ones and the crayons and they look fabulous and last all day.

I mean you can see just how much I've used the wine liner & I've struggled to find this shade again since. They have such great pigmentation and consistency, please, please, pleaseeee go try these out. So here they are, theres nothing much more I can say without boring you. Go pick at least one of these up and comment below or tweet me about your experience or any new shades.

So I obviously need to apologise as well for not posting in so long, but its been a hectic couple of months. Im not going to make hundreds of excuses life just got super duper in the way. But I'm here and ill be posting hopefully twice a week (depending on college schedule). 2016 is going to be fab & I love that you guys will be a big part of it. So if you want to collab or speak with me, get me in the usual ways.  Have a fab weekend and ill be speaking to you shortly.
