Too Much Information - T.M.I Tag

Friday 4 December 2015

As part of my first Blogmas I'm still getting used to coming up with new blog ideas everyday and making sure that I'm not just rambling. So today I was just having a little think about what I love to read on blogs and watch on my Youtube, then thought why not tell you guys some things you probably didn't already know about me. Ive already started making little confessions here and there so I'm just going to jump into the deep end with a TMI tag post. Answering a collection of 50 questions which I need to answer honestly, so I'm just going to type as I think and avoid hitting the backspace button (which could end badly) so I apologise in advance.

So I hope this keeps you entertained on this cold day, let me know if you've completed any TMI Tag recently and link it to me either on one of the social medias, below or by email. My First Love - Was Its Really That Great?

Thursday 3 December 2015

Now I know that from the title of this post you may have thought twice before reading it, with its cliched Nicholas Sparks kind of title. Although today I may be talking about some heartbreak, fond memories and getting my hopes up (not boy related obviously) but over my first ever foundation. I mean what else is a staple in every girls make-up bag? A foundation. Like the name implies its our first step of becoming young adults and the first step of understanding the art of makeup.  Such a naive time of our lives when our mums, grannies and aunts finally accepted we where growing up and let us paint our faces.

Back in the day when I was just a little 12/13 year old I was never allowed anything more than clear mascara and eyebrow gel, but girls where already experimenting with their Elizabeth Arden creme foundations from 11. So it made me pretty envious back then (poor 12 year old me), how those girls where allowed to make their faces 10x's browner than their neck and I wasn't. I guess now looking back I'm grateful for being forced to wait till I could actually make sense of blending and colour matching to my actual skin tone. I learned that the hard way when I used my half Indian mothers foundation to school one day (obviously once I left the house), and from the neck down I was snow white with a snooki like facial complexion.

So when I finally hit 14 my aunt (who is like the reason I'm obsessed with all things make up and fashion) took me shopping like she always did every saturday, but this time proposed we went to the Benefit counter. At the time I thought it was her -even though she's a bare minerals lover- but it wasn't till I sat down on the chair and the girl asked me what kind of coverage I wanted. I was all like GDSUFSDKF is this for real? So ended up the girl put this amazing foundation on my face and boom I actually looked like a little princess. The coverage was amazing, it was easy to use, went well on my skin and overall just looked flawless (to 14 year old me). So 5 years later and in the black friday sales I stoated over to the Benefit section in boots and grabbed one, just to see if it was really everything I loved before.

So I sat down in front of my huge mirror on Friday night before a gig and got ready for the first impression, 5 years later. I had no fake tan on so I figured I would wash then prep my skin with the little testers the girl in boots had given me for free. Ive always used the Porefessional and I have the regular size one but I can't complain when its for nothing. So anyway now my skin was ready I wasn't sure whether to apply it straight on or just use a brush (was honestly so nervous incase it was horrible). So it got planted straight on my face 5 lines at most and then blended out with my Make Up Revolution blending sponge.

I mean it gave coverage as I expected but it wasn't as amazing as I thought it used to be, but know I'm used to liquid foundations maybe that was the problem? It gave a dewy finish but was also quite heavy on my skin. I wore the foundation all night through alcohol inflicted activities and sweating when we were in the gig. To be fair it stayed put and never slid off my face, which was probably what spotty 14 year old me loved. Its a great foundation overall for starting off with and maybe using on nights out, but not everyday because it can feel quite heavy

A couple of days later I figured I could mix it up a little bit and play around with the foundation stick in ways I hadn't before, testing it for other uses. I put on my Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 hour foundation in shade 303 (thats my fake tan go to foundation, holy grail I swear) and used the Playstick as a highlight shade under my eyes, the forehead, nose and all the usual places and my MAC Studio Finish concealer in NW40 as a contour shade. Blended all that in and I'm being honest I think I've found my new christmas routine for my face. It went no where, stayed put, kept the tones and any highlight powder was stuck on there as well.

Im thinking the moral to this love story is that 14 year old just assumed this was the only level of coverage and staying power there was in the world. Then 5 years on and many foundation routines later realised that she could use the old and blend it with the new, for that ideal party coverage. Overall Benefit are a great brand for the makeup shy people, the inexperienced and the pro's, this foundation is definitely going into my memory box and staying there.  So comment below, tweet or email me to let me know what your first foundation was, I mean why not go out and buy it and see what you think now (i dare you). As always you'll find everything spoke about today linked below with the best price possible. If you have any questions or need to get a hold of me please don't hesitate to do so.  Have a great day and I'll speak to you tomorrow

Decorate Your Space ft Me In A New Light

Thursday 26 November 2015

So I'm always picking up things here and there for my bedroom to make it all that little bit more homely. But recently I've noticed I've picked up more than usual (for me anyway). My room is mainly white and silver, so I like to make the most out of bold pieces round my room here and there. Anything from mosaic pieces, classical picture frames to hollywood inspired lighting. So its not like a full room tour, or like my bed or bedding its mainly just little nick naks that will go with anything and are super cheap that I've bought recently.

Uhmmm where to start.. this is always the hard part!!!

Oh yeah, so basically I'd say this home improvement thing started when I was coming to the realisation there wasn't any space left for my make up brushes (as you'll see by previous posts I've went a bit over board recently..) so I needed more ways to organise them. I live like a 2 minute drive from a B&M so I went down there just with the intention of buying like a cute mason jar for the time being, then ordering some clear acrylic ones? But one thing lead to another and I was looking for vases (completely off subject I know) and I was stuck between a longer one and this little short stumpy one (apparently a hurricane candle holder lol). Eventually I bought them both, well actually two of the stumpier ones and look what i did with them;
Pretty clever huh? I just shoved some smart price rice till about 1/2 of the way up in each vase and vallah, some super sparkly make up brush holders. Once I got them I went on a little shop and obviously I spotted something else. Which was this silver vintage ( i want to say baroque but i know thats not the word I'm looking for) 6x4 frame. ;

So lately I've been feeling a little bit sorry for myself and down in the dumps (no violins please.), just felt like a needed a lil bit of motivation. So where else to put that lovely inspiration than sat right night to me on my desk in that amazing silver frame. The quote in the photo frame is actually from TK Maxx for like 7.99 (so is the silver frame) in this cute little cut out card book thing, which can be framed and they have all sorts of sizes.  Ive managed to pop the other 6x4 quotes and picture in one of my collage photo frames, I've not finished it yet but ill pop an image on twitter so you can see.

So this is the part where you're probably going to find me a little pathetic or feel like "why am i reading this, omg srsly". So as most of you know I'm just a standard 19 year old, one year away from twenty and two away from being an actual adult in every country. I've never made this confession before and I don't think anyone really except my immediate family and closest friends (and even then its probably only grant) know. But from the age of like 6 I've been terrified from the dark, like I literally will sit there for like 10 seconds and just assume something in the corner going to eat me and Ill just turn round and put the dim light on my Illuminated beauty mirror back on.  So I really want to get over this fear, urghhh and so I've been buying fairy lights and little bits here and there from Primark to try and ease my way into it. So I've substituted these little ideas instead;

Okay so please hold back the gasps and the laughter, but even if you're just looking for that cosy lighting in the winter now that the dark nights are coming in, these little lighting ideas are ideal. So the little rose fairy lights from Primark where only £4-6 I believe and I've popped them into a B&M perfume bottle that I had from my old flat just to add a cluster of light (while looking like a bouquet at the same time).  Primark are actually rocking the home decor these days so I just couldn't wait to get my hands on this light which I had been waiting a lifetime for here in Glasgow. They have lots of things to choose from like shapes and words like this one ranging from £10 - 12.

So there you go, a little home haul for you guys for quirking up little areas around the home or your bedroom. Aswell as that you've got a little inside scoop as to how I'm a big fearty, but I'm trying to fix it while I can. Comment below or tweet me and let me know your weirdest and strongest fears, just so I don't feel so alone. As usual everything mentioned in todays blog will be linked below ( as best as I can, yeno what primarks like)for you to check out. If you've got any questions or you'd like to collaborate with me please drop me an email, tweet or comment. I hope you have a wonderful week and I'll speak to you soon.

Loving Lily Lulu Fashion

Tuesday 3 November 2015

Earlier on today I was just doing my daily Good Morning quote on twitter (how inspiring, I know) and while going through I received an inbox from none other than 'Lily Lulu Fashion'. Just basically telling me to check out their shop and giving me 20% off discount code. So intrigued by this I had a nosy and was pleasantly surprised when I saw what items they had to offer. Items they had on there matched some of the things places like Pretty Little Thing, Missguided & Public Desire have to offer. In some cases it even bet there prices before the 20% discount. I must say what drew me in the most was the boots they had , which are currently my new winter obsession. I even noticed a pair of over the knee snakeskin boots which resemble a pair of Sam Edelman boots I was lusting over. Another thing I've been loving is beanie hats with the cute little pom poms on top, they have them in the most perfect colours. So although I've not ordered my boots yet I have gone ahead and made a image list of everything on there which I loved, so you could get a little look into the website as well. Which will as usual be listed below in the useful links section, so continue below and have a look into what I'm loving.
 Fraya Playsuit: £29.00
Macey Dress: £25.00

 Emi Stilettos: £25.00

So theres just a little look into what I'm loving from Lily Lulu Fashion. In no way has this been sponsored by the brand at all, I just thought Id share my new find of the day and some looks from the items I loved. Go give them a follow on their Instagram & Twitter, not to mention the site (Links will be down below). Let me know what you think of these cute looks or if you know of any other sites like this one. Enter Twitter15 at checkout to apply the 20%. Happy shopping !!

PSST.. Students get 20% off as well

Monday Pick-me Ups ft. My Latest Obsession

Monday 2 November 2015

So Mondays tend to be that day of the week where I kinda wrap myself In my duvet and just skink back into dreaminess. Which is allowed here and there (and trust me I'm a huge advocate of that), but today I just had a few extra special reasons to get out of bed. Well really the only thing that can get me out of bed is either pancakes and bacon or the postman. Sadly it wasn't to the smell of maple syrup, but deliveries are just as sweet. So if you've read my previous blog post you'll know I had a little splurge when I got paid and one quick look on Superdrug got me a teeny tiny bit carried away.

You could say that I'm currently going through a "phase" where all I've wanted is makeup brushes. Now I don't know if this is just me, but all the makeup brushes that have been released in anticipation for Christmas are just super shiny, pretty and metallic (which are 3 things that pretty much cause me to have heart palpitations). I mean I would've held off and asked St Nick for these, but they where right there basically screaming about how much I needed them. So Ive already spoken about the Makeup Revolution Ultra Metals collection but I might have bought their other makeup brush set, and I don't even regret it a little. Have a look though would you ?

These Makeup Revolution Ultra Scuplt and Blend collection are the ultimate go to brushes, they fit nicely into my tiny little makeup bag for work and college. Meaning I can maintain that sculpted and well highlighted face throughout the day without taking my full brush collection everywhere I go. I can already tell that we're going to have a wonderful brush-to-face relationship because the brush hairs are so soft but yet nicely dense to put in the graft so you don't need to. The little blending sponge feels just like my beauty blender so I'm exited to give that a shot as well. These 3 brushes and the blending sponge only cost me £14.99 from Superdrug, though I am sure the Makeup Revolution website offers them there as well.  Ill use them on todays contour and let you know via Twitter how that goes @HauteBothered_

Now in the previous blog I mentioned my love for Real Techniques brushes, I must say they have been in my collection for the longest and are super reliable. Before this purchase though I was feeling a little bit like there wasn't much momentum on the brushes in the lower price range. However my doubts are gone and the have released some fantastic new sets all in time for Christmas. The one you'll see below is the Deluxe Holiday Set featuring 2 set exclusives which I believe are the 'Tapered Foundation Brush' & the 'Angled Highlighter Brush'.  The set then contains a Multi-task Brush, Fine Liner Brush & Base Shadow brush (which I already had but ill probably use this one for nose contour). The new look for these brushes is amazing, the brushes still have the same colours to determine their use however its like they've been upgraded to a hybrid metallic look. Along with these brushes you're able to see it on their Collectors Edition Eyelining Set which ill link at the bottom of this post, for all you eyeliner lovers.

I forgot to mention up top but with this set which Superdrug are offering for £20 (thats £10 off RRP) you also get an cute little silver clutch to put your brushes in when you're on the go. How sweets that? You've got everything you need there really for a full face look; whether you're using the Multi-Brush for blush, powder or bronzing, the Tapered Foundation for concealer or foundation. Thats what I love about real techniques for, the versatility in each brush and how it can be used in a different way. Again the synthetic fibres are so soft and gentle for your face and they really can pack product despite this.

I love love love both these brush sets and bought them together with the intention of combining both sets to have everything thing I need for the upcoming party season. Whether it be to touch up during the night or for reapplying in the morning (wink,wink). Both sets present purposes which I go for, a flawless finish and a well sculpted look. So far I highly recommend them on the look, feel and just experience with both beauty brands overall. But ill be sure to post more on Twitter and Instagram once I've gotten the hang of them.

Ive already added these brushes to christmas lists for all the chicas en mi familia, for gifts along with some other favourites to let them have a go. Anyway thanks anyway for checking out this post, hopefully I won't have anymore brush buying tendencies in the next month or so. Cant make any promises though. Everything will be linked below if you want to have a look at some of the products in todays blog.

Make Up Revolution Ultra Metals - Brush Review

Sunday 1 November 2015

Let me just get started by saying it has been a long 3 months since I last bought myself some makeup goodies, being responsible and money savvy is not fun at all. Honestly looking through everyones instagram and bloglovin posts had made me feel that little bit left out ... get the violins oot. Well I no longer need anyone to throw me a pity parade because I may have splurged just a little bit on payday and as a result have any disposable income I had is gone. I have some really pretty things though...

So some of the pretty little things I bought include a few Makeup Revolution products. But the pinnacle of that purchase was the sheer greatness of these brand spanking new, rose gold makeup brushes. I've always wanted to try the new Real Technique Brushes but they are a little bit pricey for my student income so I thought why not give these beauties a try. I mean for £34.95, you're saving £10 if you buy them as a set rather as individually. So tell santa to get his finger out. Honestly they give me life, just have a little look below. Oh and they even sent me a little freebie of their Light-Medium Concealer palette which ill put below as well, if you want a wee nosy.

I mean how glorious are they? So you've seen how amazing they look, now let me give you a little insight into how they preform. The fibres in these brushes are absolutely amazing and perfect for that person with even the most sensitive skin ever (i.e. me). They pick up product like magnet and it goes onto your face super pigmented. Ive only used these brushes with powder so far, mainly for contouring and highlighting, but boy do they work wonders. Infact thats a lie, I used the Ultra Contour Foundation brush (the triangle one) for concealing the larger areas under my eye and on my head before blending out and it gets into every point and crease.

Usually I have a favourite when it comes to sets like these, but I must say each of of these brushes are amazing. Whether it comes to contouring, highlighting, pressed/loose powders, foundations, eyeshadows, the list is endless. Basically what I'm saying is get your hands on these before they're gone. They make an amazing first set and they're a little bonus to a MUAs kit as well. The only thing I would say is keep them clean or the white bristles will end up the same colour as the handle.

Makeup Revolution seem to be upping their game these days, so ill post a few more reviews or other items I purchased along with these. Im super excited to give their sister company a try, don't know if you've heard of them but its called Freedom Makeup. Go give their websites a look through and maybe add some of their products on your wish list to Santa. Any products I've spoken about will be listed below with links.
