Must Haves or Must Hate - Beauty Bargins

Recently I've found myself drawn to a website based in mainland China. Now we've all most likely heard of online Chinese wholesalers and their reputation for being a little sketchy and unreliable. But I came across this website on the hunt for some cheap matte lipsticks which I wanted to buy and review. Its name is Aliexpress and to be honest when I found it I put little faith, trust or pixie dust in the hopes that my stuff would actually arrive; be the right item, colour or even be here at all. But when prices are as low as 10 PENCE its human nature to be at least a little intrigued. So I ordered those matte lipsticks like I said I would (I'll get another post on that shortly) but found myself wandering around not only their beauty products, but their tech & womenswear as well.

So I've decided to do a series of posts and reviews about the items which I'll film later in a collective haul (Still waiting on one last thing). So take this as you will, maybe as a "how to shop carefully online" or "how to get high quality products for pennies". The views are all my own and if I love it or hate it- you will most definitely be able to tell.

Okay so here comes the good, bad and the ugly. The first few things that came through the door were 3 collections of eyelashes. I was never one for wearing fake lashes because my own naturally are long enough, though recently i have found myself adoring the finish they give to a plain eye look. First up we have the two 5 pack eyelashes (the ones on the blue holder) and honestly I've ran out of one pack already, these are now my holy grail and if you've seen me wearing these lashes in the last 3 weeks - its been these bad boys. They cost me (at the time) 56 pence, LIKE SERIOUSLY!! Thats roughly 10 pence each.

Now the next ones are a little bit more daring, I do warn the plain Janes or the faint hearted. These lashes I seen on some photographic feedback and they looked liked that Kylie Jenner lash; yeno, the long & uber curly insta-famous look? I put them on and by dear god were these huge (bearing in mind I'm not into that look) I put one on momentarily and i felt the right hand side of my face just fail completely. I don't know how Kylie does it but damn they where heavy, it honestly felt like I had backcombed my eyelashes. So yeah these are going back in the drawer for a costume party or something where I'll have the guts to wear them. But to be fair the quality is amazing and again at the price of 69 pence- I can't really moan. If this is the look you're into then I would definitely try them out- In fact pop me and email, text or DM and I can post you them out.

Thee shopping experience wasn't all that bad to be honest, they came in only 12 days (I ordered on the 20/1 and they came 2/2) and I'll list the exact sellers below. My only advice would be to research what you're buying, compare it to other wholesalers on the site and make sure theres at least 1 piece of photographic feedback. These lashes didn't come with glue but I picked some up from ASDA which is basically facial superglue for around £2. So let me know what you think in the comments below, if you've ever bought anything or if you would like advice. As normal all relative links will be put below and maybe a few more examples of the same (or similar items) that you can compare. These are my views and experience only, but due to the wholesalers and the type of website yours way vary. But so far following these steps has proved to work in my favour. Monday Pick-me Ups ft. My Latest Obsession

So Mondays tend to be that day of the week where I kinda wrap myself In my duvet and just skink back into dreaminess. Which is allowed here and there (and trust me I'm a huge advocate of that), but today I just had a few extra special reasons to get out of bed. Well really the only thing that can get me out of bed is either pancakes and bacon or the postman. Sadly it wasn't to the smell of maple syrup, but deliveries are just as sweet. So if you've read my previous blog post you'll know I had a little splurge when I got paid and one quick look on Superdrug got me a teeny tiny bit carried away.

You could say that I'm currently going through a "phase" where all I've wanted is makeup brushes. Now I don't know if this is just me, but all the makeup brushes that have been released in anticipation for Christmas are just super shiny, pretty and metallic (which are 3 things that pretty much cause me to have heart palpitations). I mean I would've held off and asked St Nick for these, but they where right there basically screaming about how much I needed them. So Ive already spoken about the Makeup Revolution Ultra Metals collection but I might have bought their other makeup brush set, and I don't even regret it a little. Have a look though would you ?

These Makeup Revolution Ultra Scuplt and Blend collection are the ultimate go to brushes, they fit nicely into my tiny little makeup bag for work and college. Meaning I can maintain that sculpted and well highlighted face throughout the day without taking my full brush collection everywhere I go. I can already tell that we're going to have a wonderful brush-to-face relationship because the brush hairs are so soft but yet nicely dense to put in the graft so you don't need to. The little blending sponge feels just like my beauty blender so I'm exited to give that a shot as well. These 3 brushes and the blending sponge only cost me £14.99 from Superdrug, though I am sure the Makeup Revolution website offers them there as well.  Ill use them on todays contour and let you know via Twitter how that goes @HauteBothered_. 

Now in the previous blog I mentioned my love for Real Techniques brushes, I must say they have been in my collection for the longest and are super reliable. Before this purchase though I was feeling a little bit like there wasn't much momentum on the brushes in the lower price range. However my doubts are gone and the have released some fantastic new sets all in time for Christmas. The one you'll see below is the Deluxe Holiday Set featuring 2 set exclusives which I believe are the 'Tapered Foundation Brush' & the 'Angled Highlighter Brush'.  The set then contains a Multi-task Brush, Fine Liner Brush & Base Shadow brush (which I already had but ill probably use this one for nose contour). The new look for these brushes is amazing, the brushes still have the same colours to determine their use however its like they've been upgraded to a hybrid metallic look. Along with these brushes you're able to see it on their Collectors Edition Eyelining Set which ill link at the bottom of this post, for all you eyeliner lovers. 

I forgot to mention up top but with this set which Superdrug are offering for £20 (thats £10 off RRP) you also get an cute little silver clutch to put your brushes in when you're on the go. How sweets that? You've got everything you need there really for a full face look; whether you're using the Multi-Brush for blush, powder or bronzing, the Tapered Foundation for concealer or foundation. Thats what I love about real techniques for, the versatility in each brush and how it can be used in a different way. Again the synthetic fibres are so soft and gentle for your face and they really can pack product despite this.

I love love love both these brush sets and bought them together with the intention of combining both sets to have everything thing I need for the upcoming party season. Whether it be to touch up during the night or for reapplying in the morning (wink,wink). Both sets present purposes which I go for, a flawless finish and a well sculpted look. So far I highly recommend them on the look, feel and just experience with both beauty brands overall. But ill be sure to post more on Twitter and Instagram once I've gotten the hang of them.

Ive already added these brushes to christmas lists for all the chicas en mi familia, for gifts along with some other favourites to let them have a go. Know Your Body Shape - Dressing for events

We all know its coming, that one night, out of the ordinary where you can look and feel a million dollars, be it a prom night, award show or cinderella's ball. Its round the corner and now its time to start planning, finding that perfect dress, planning the perfect make up and hair. Despite the excitement it can be some what overwhelming and stressful (don't worry it'll be perfect in the end), so here's me offering a few tips and guidelines to help you out with that planning. As a bridal stylist for the last year, I can shed a bit of light on the subject and share with you my experiences. So where to begin...

The dress obviously! So where to buy from? who can you trust? is it safe to order from abroad?
In my opinion and from others horrible experiences never order from a Chinese wholesaler, if it seems too good to be true then chances are it is. Order from people with legit certificates and are legitimate retailers of for instance; Jovani, Sherri Hill or Tony Bowls. Shop around for the best prices, compare the quality and customer reviews.

Every girl has a certain body shape which suits certain and specific styles of dresses, something that will enhance what God gave you. On a weekly basis, at work, I am expected to know which dresses will suit a girls figure, height and weight (its a tricky job), but when done right leaves a girl feeling $1 million. So what kind of figure do you have?

Triangle : The Triangle shape is defined as shoulders and torso that are narrower than the hips.

Inverted Triangle :This is characterised by having wider shoulders than hips, and wearing a larger size on your top half than on your bottom half. Little definition between waist and hips, the lack of curves at bottom.

Rectangle :Little definition on the waist, your hips and your bust are roughly the same size and there is a small difference between your bust and waist is little.

Hourglass: The bust and hips are well balanced and you have a beautifully defined waist, likely posses a rounded bottom and rounded shoulders which align with hips.

Diamond: The hips are broader than your bust and shoulders, the waist is undefined and the widest part of the frame and lower legs are shapely.

Rounded: The waistline lacks or has no waist definition, hips and bottom may be wide and full along with waist creating a rounder look. (also knows as an Apple body shape)

Pear: The waist is well defined, bust and shoulders proportionally narrower than the hip-line and the thighs and bottoms are full and rounded.

So now you've identified which body shape you are, what kind of dresses should you check out and where?

Start of by looking for legitimate sellers (even if its all the way in NY), shopping round your city to see what kind of dress you can find. However some of us girls don't have that luxury of being able to get the designers labels and styles we want, so we resort to online shopping. The horror stories from ordering online are endlesssssss, from wholesale disaster, international sizing and it not suiting you as it did on that slender 5"8 model. So here are a few of my tips and (from personal experience) tricks on how to have a stress free prom, as far as humanly possible...

• Go online initially, see what kinds of things you are liking, make a note of the style number or screenshot all details on your Ipad, Iphone or tablet. Are you a lace kind of girl? a glitter girl ? or couture chic? you need to know what you love, like and hate.

• Go shopping around some bridal boutiques, special occasions shops and even go check out some bridesmaids dresses. Try anything on, you need to know what suits your figure personally, try column, soft and floaty, mermaid, fishtail, princess... you name it just try it on!!

• From that shopping trip you'll recognise what kind of things suited you, what details, colours and embellishments.. you never know maybe you've already found your dress! But for us indecisive hard to please girls, you've now chopped your online list in half... you better get shopping..

• So way at the beginning you should have set that budget for the dress, taking into accounts things like make up, hair, shoes and accessories... trust me this end is pretty much endless. You have to be reasonable when picking that dress, for you, your mum and her poor bank account. So there's more of those $1,000 dresses of the list.

• Here's the hard part.. picking one! Taking into account everything you have to choose that one dress and its as simple as "which one would suit me better?" , "which can I afford?" and "which one do I remember the most?"

• Hopefully you've chosen the dress, so now to get your size and where to buy from? go on the official retailer website and see where they sell their dresses, most retailers have a list you can view of their suppliers to prevent any fraudulent activity. But since I'm so kind, here are a few I highly recommend: New York Dress, Mack Tak Mart (where I got my Jovani 3008 eek) and Misses Dressy.

• You're ready to order so how do you know your size? well basically, you're going to have to reform back into the good old, original, method of using a measuring tape. Never order a dress guessing your measurements you need to be specific and accurate, I mean its coming from another part of the world, who's to say their returns policy is as lenient as a high street store.

• Wait... ITS HERE. Take it to get some alterations done, plan your hair, bag, shoes and nails all in accordance with that dress. Just double check you have an order number, parcel number and an estimated delivery time.
