Get Your Skin Looking "Visibly Clear"

Wednesday, 27 April 2016

Skin care has never been something that I've invested in, it all seemed a little complicated and unnecessary for me back in the day. I was quite happy with a face cloth and a good old bar of dove soap. From a young age I was never prone to any dry skin, spots or blemishes of any kind, it had been looked after and was glowing. But then things changed (as they do when you turn 13) and my skin started to become unbalanced. I started finding my skin oily in certain areas and dry in others to the point when I ended up with really painful and severe acne mainly around my forehead (thank god for huge fringes). I don't think it was something that a lot of people noticed, but it certainly made me a lot more self-conscious of what was going on under that mad combover of mine.

So as parents do, mine tried to help me and invested a lot of time and money into helping me get rid of the mass lumps on my face. Certain things made it worse, others cleared it up amazingly. But it was a constant battle of trying to find the right balance and being able to rely on it. So after nothing really worked I consulted a doctor who has given me a drying lotion for the spots and tablets to clear up the bacteria causing the breakouts. Like it was meant to it got rid of the spots and gave me a much clearer complexion, that I even patched the fringe.

But now at 19 years old where I do wear makeup most days, I'm finding myself tackling some more frequent breakouts. Nothing major enough to make me want to go to a doctor but enough for me to want to try and invest in skin care. I don't quite as much have a routine as yet but I have been trying out some products and this Nuetrogena Visibly Clear range has been working wonders;

Using the gentle scrub exfoliator every other day and the facial wash daily has managed to get rid of any blackheads, whiteheads or spots on my face. Not only is it gentle to my sensitive skin, but it smells like heaven. Both the scrub and wash make your face feel cool and refreshed, helping me wake up every morning as well (which I definitely need). Once I use these products I'll then follow on with the  oil-free moisturiser, mainly around my nose so I get rid of any dry/flaky skin. Using these before bed and pre-makeup'd everyday has made my skin feel significantly softer, look brighter and has reduced blemishes in just 1 week. Maybe I'm just new to this whole skin care thing, but Neutrogena are definitely doing something right.

You can pick these products up in most shops, online retailers and drugstores, as the brand are well known and established in the UK/US. As well as this range of "Visibly Clear" products there are other lines which may suit your problem areas and skin type better. I picked these up while shopping in my local ASDA for £3 each, but you should be able to get them online as well. As usual all items and topics in todays blog will be linked below- let me know your skin care secrets and if you've tried these products out before. I hope you guys have a fab day, I'll see ya soon.

March Favourites

Tuesday, 5 April 2016

So during the month of March I've found myself buying some new things, picking up some old ones and trying out new tricks. Every month is a new phase, so I figured I'd be best off showing you in a post, just a couple of this months things that where just always in my hand.  So naturally I always have a lot of favourites but here today I'm just posting a few of the smaller things which where always on my person/face. Its not too extensive but its a little taster before the video is up tomorrow, theres a little collection of photos and a few thoughts on each item.

Ive been finding myself looking for a fuller coverage this month & I've been tanning more than usual - probably because of Easter etc. But yeah basically this month I felt like making an effort with my face. I needed something that would be a picture perfect coverage, stay in place and not look too cakey. Ive never been one to try out cinematic foundations or gel/cream foundations but this month I've been loooooovinnnggggg the Mehron Celbrè HD Pro foundation which I bought in the shade Eurasia Japanais (which matches my MAC Shade of NC35) making it the ideal shade for me with my tan on. Its thick, creamy, full coverage and when you put it on your face it blends like a dream and just looks like a second skin- while obviously covering up spots and blemishes. So I would totally recommend this to everyone and I bagged mines for like £11.

For underneath and over my foundation/full face I had heard that MAC Fix+ was amazing and had always wanted to try it. It had been out of stock every time I popped into the MAC store in Glasgow and then finally managed to get my hands on it. At first I just popped it over my face for a dewy look and then tried it out as a primer and it works just as well. So yeah those are my two fave face products this month for that long lasting full coverage look

While I was in MAC I was looking for a dark brown lip colour and they didn't have what I wanted so I popped into Superdrug and picked up this Loreal Paris lipstick in 703. To be fair firstly it was the packaging that caught my eye but this is more of a satin finish lipstick, its a perfect colour and I just love it. I know I've mentioned these lashes before but they are honestly so amazing that I had to pop them into my March favourites. So last but not least I've been working with a manufacturer who has made me a phone case here or there & came up with this faux fur beauty. Its honestly so perfect, the pom pom is also detachable. Im thinking about seeing about getting more and popping some on my Depop if you guys would be interested let me know.

So theres a few of my March favourites, I've just finished recording the YouTube video which had more products, books & shows that I've been loving. So that will be up in the next day or so. But in the mean time I'll link everything bellow & if you have any questions or suggestions feel free to comment or contact me. Have a fab day, see you soon

All about that KIKO

Thursday, 18 February 2016

KIKO is probably that make up brand that has similar pricing to the likes of Rimmel, Maybeline etc. but I've always found it to have higher quality. Since starting back college I've tried to start saving for summer & paying off my car so I can minimise my outgoings in the long run obviously (because right now everthings going to bills and savings). So I set myself a challenge for the next few months by trying to find high quality make up at lower prices.

I went to the Glasgow fort to get my brows did, and on the way noticed that KIKO had a huge sale so it would've been unlike me if I never popped in for a look. After just having ran out of one of my foundations and I seen this as an experiment to try out some new ones. Kiko had lots on the sale some with 50% off so I got colour matched grabbed some and got on with it.

Now recently all I've done is buy lip products soo it was kinda obvious I'd pick up one, or three. Since I use baby wipes all the time I've been meaning to invest in a good cleanser so I picked up some bits from that. So after that quick 15 minutes in the shop I came out with a bag packed with stuff and heres what I got;

So where should I start first... Well maybe about how bloody cheap everything was. Ill get started with the cleansing products; The Kiko 'Purifying Pads' I picked up for only £3.95 reduced from £9-£10 (sorry I can't remember exactly) & the 'Cleansing Foam' which again was £3.95 in the sale. Both items look like they are store only content, because I've struggled to find more of the purifying pads online. Ive pretty much ran out of both these items already, but I've found my skin to be a lot more clearer and softer when using these over the last few weeks.

Moving on I then picked up some foundations a liquid, cream & a powder. The first one I got matched was the Unlimited foundation (basically because it had the same consistency as MAC Studio Sculpt) which was the only product not in the sale at £14.90, but now is available for as little as £7.40 depending on the skin tone - Mines is in Neutral 40. Moving on I picked up the BB Glow Compact in the shade 06, which is the cream foundation which I just wear everyday or as a top up to the Unlimited foundation if I need super high coverage. Im picked this up for about £4.90 reduced from £12 or so.  Finally for my face I picked up the standard Compact Powder in Shade 105 for only £4.90 from £9.90. Thats like a full face of make up for as little as £18 pounds.

Finally my lipstick habit got fed when I picked up 3 super pigmented and fab colours. Firstly I got two from the Luminous Chrome Collection in shades 703 (Metallic finish) & 500 (Creamy finish) both for £2 each. The next one I picked up purely because the packaging was unreal for the price tag of £3.70, the Intensely Lavish lipstick in the shade 05.

Unfortunately some of the products I purchased in store are not seeming to be available online,  if you have a KIKO Milano near you then I would highly recommend going into the the store rather than searching online. But as usual I'll have everything linked below (that I can) hopefully to help you find the products or a store near you. I hope this was helpful and gave you an insight into Kiko Cosmetics. Have a great day guys, i'll speak to you soon.

Monday Pick-me Ups ft. My Latest Obsession

Monday, 2 November 2015

So Mondays tend to be that day of the week where I kinda wrap myself In my duvet and just skink back into dreaminess. Which is allowed here and there (and trust me I'm a huge advocate of that), but today I just had a few extra special reasons to get out of bed. Well really the only thing that can get me out of bed is either pancakes and bacon or the postman. Sadly it wasn't to the smell of maple syrup, but deliveries are just as sweet. So if you've read my previous blog post you'll know I had a little splurge when I got paid and one quick look on Superdrug got me a teeny tiny bit carried away.

You could say that I'm currently going through a "phase" where all I've wanted is makeup brushes. Now I don't know if this is just me, but all the makeup brushes that have been released in anticipation for Christmas are just super shiny, pretty and metallic (which are 3 things that pretty much cause me to have heart palpitations). I mean I would've held off and asked St Nick for these, but they where right there basically screaming about how much I needed them. So Ive already spoken about the Makeup Revolution Ultra Metals collection but I might have bought their other makeup brush set, and I don't even regret it a little. Have a look though would you ?

These Makeup Revolution Ultra Scuplt and Blend collection are the ultimate go to brushes, they fit nicely into my tiny little makeup bag for work and college. Meaning I can maintain that sculpted and well highlighted face throughout the day without taking my full brush collection everywhere I go. I can already tell that we're going to have a wonderful brush-to-face relationship because the brush hairs are so soft but yet nicely dense to put in the graft so you don't need to. The little blending sponge feels just like my beauty blender so I'm exited to give that a shot as well. These 3 brushes and the blending sponge only cost me £14.99 from Superdrug, though I am sure the Makeup Revolution website offers them there as well.  Ill use them on todays contour and let you know via Twitter how that goes @HauteBothered_

Now in the previous blog I mentioned my love for Real Techniques brushes, I must say they have been in my collection for the longest and are super reliable. Before this purchase though I was feeling a little bit like there wasn't much momentum on the brushes in the lower price range. However my doubts are gone and the have released some fantastic new sets all in time for Christmas. The one you'll see below is the Deluxe Holiday Set featuring 2 set exclusives which I believe are the 'Tapered Foundation Brush' & the 'Angled Highlighter Brush'.  The set then contains a Multi-task Brush, Fine Liner Brush & Base Shadow brush (which I already had but ill probably use this one for nose contour). The new look for these brushes is amazing, the brushes still have the same colours to determine their use however its like they've been upgraded to a hybrid metallic look. Along with these brushes you're able to see it on their Collectors Edition Eyelining Set which ill link at the bottom of this post, for all you eyeliner lovers.

I forgot to mention up top but with this set which Superdrug are offering for £20 (thats £10 off RRP) you also get an cute little silver clutch to put your brushes in when you're on the go. How sweets that? You've got everything you need there really for a full face look; whether you're using the Multi-Brush for blush, powder or bronzing, the Tapered Foundation for concealer or foundation. Thats what I love about real techniques for, the versatility in each brush and how it can be used in a different way. Again the synthetic fibres are so soft and gentle for your face and they really can pack product despite this.

I love love love both these brush sets and bought them together with the intention of combining both sets to have everything thing I need for the upcoming party season. Whether it be to touch up during the night or for reapplying in the morning (wink,wink). Both sets present purposes which I go for, a flawless finish and a well sculpted look. So far I highly recommend them on the look, feel and just experience with both beauty brands overall. But ill be sure to post more on Twitter and Instagram once I've gotten the hang of them.

Ive already added these brushes to christmas lists for all the chicas en mi familia, for gifts along with some other favourites to let them have a go. Anyway thanks anyway for checking out this post, hopefully I won't have anymore brush buying tendencies in the next month or so. Cant make any promises though. Everything will be linked below if you want to have a look at some of the products in todays blog.
